A Little Recap

I am a little embarrassed that (with the exception of yesterday's post) I have not updated the blog in 6 months! In my defense, things have been a little crazy around here. You would have thought I had enough on my plate with taking care of a toddler and a newborn. Nah, let's add prepping and selling a house, house hunting, building a new house, packing, moving the majority of our belongings into a storage building, moving the rest of our belongings to a rental, and all of this was done around and during the Holidays!
That's right! We no longer live in our 3 story townhome, Hallelujah! We listed and sold that baby within 7 days. Our closing date was December 2nd (yep, the Monday after Thanksgiving) so we had 6 weeks to pack and find a new home. Which leads to house hunting. To make a long story short, we found a home we liked, made an offer which wasn't accepted and with the limited inventory that was on the market at the time, we then decided to build. We were so excited! We never even considered building a home and now we were, but that left us with one rather huge problem...where are we going to live until mid-April?
Enter our heroes, my brother-in-law and his wife, Phil & Amy. They have a one bedroom rental unit in the bottom floor of their home. The week before we had to be out of our townhome their current renters moved out! So they so graciously offered to let us stay until our new home was ready. Thank ya Jesus!
So we are currently in temporary housing in Mt. Juliet until April when we will officially move to our new little home in the Bent Creek Subdivision in Nolensville.
So here are a few pictures from the past few months:

First, let me start by saying this entry is LONG overdue. I actually had forgotten about these pics and happened upon them the other day.
My mom took these photos when Mia was just a few weeks old. I feel like these were taken yesterday, but that isn't possible because this past week that tiny baby turned 6 months old!
So here are a few of the newborn pics:
My heart is full after looking at the photos again. We are so blessed to have this sweet angel in our lives!

We have experienced yet another "First" here at the Organ house...McKinley's first day of school. Granted, it is only preschool but in my book that still counts.
McKinley is attending Otter Creek Kindergarten and Preschool two days a week. Mike and I are so thankful that she is attending a Christian school, surrounded by lots of wonderful loving women who will teach her more than just academics.
Here are a few things she loves so far about school:
1. Her teachers: Miss Jeannie and Miss Katie
2. Playing on the playground: blowing bubbles and going down the slide
3. Nap time: because she gets to sleep on a COT!
4. Singing the "Clean Up" song while picking up her toys
I will share one story and then let you get to the pictures:)
After just one week of school (2 days), we were at home. I was cooking dinner and McKinley was playing in the living room. I heard her talking, so I stopped what I was doing and walked around the corner to check on her. I found McKinley sitting with her back to me singing "God Our Father" while she was playing.
In that beautiful moment I was reminded of several things:
1. How blessed I am to be the mother of this sweet hearted little girl.
2. The importance of surrounding her with wholesome and loving people.
3. How impressionable this little human beings is. Her brain is like a sponge!
3. The pureness of her heart.
4. And most of all, hearing that sweet little song coming from that amazing little girl reminded me that the stress of reworking our budget and stretching our pennies to afford school, and loading a newborn in and out of the car twice a day to do school drop off & pick up makes all those worries and inconveniences worth it and I wouldn't want it any other way!
Snoopy Day 2013
McKinley's very first experience at school was "Snoopy Day". It is where the kids get to "snoop" around their classroom and meet their teachers and classmates.

Here are some photos from her actual first day of school. Somebody was more than just a little excited!

A couple weekends ago we headed to downtown Nashville to try out the Cumberland Park Splash Pad. We all needed to get out of the house and McKinley needed something fun to do. Since she LOVES the water, we thought this would be perfect way to spend a hot summer morning (and it is free!).
This was such a great way to spend some family time and I am sure we will be making another trip to Cumberland Park in the near future!

Bathing a newborn...that is something I don't really enjoy doing. They are so tiny and fragile, I don't want them to freeze and they are so slippery. I definitely don't want to be known as the momma who dropped her newborn because she was slippery when wet! But regardless of my silly fears, Mia was going to have to be bathed at some point:)
Mia screamed from the second we started the bath until the very end when we wrapped her in a towel. Thankfully we survived the first bath (there was no dropping of babies) and now that Mia is 8 weeks old we have a routine and she loves bath time!
