Funny Friday

On Sunday mornings, when we pick McKinley up from church nursery, I always wonder if she had a diaper change. I usually don't bother taking the time to ask since I know the teachers have their hands full and it really isn't that big of a deal.

As we were leaving church one morning I asked Mike, "I wonder if M had a dirty diaper during class?" (it had been a few days and we were expecting a blow out at anytime). It was more of a rhetorical question and wasn't really expecting him to answer me.

After we arrived home, we immediately started our after church routine: Mike changes the baby out of her church clothes and I start fixing lunch. I had no more opened the refrigerator and Mike calls me back into the living room. I knew I needed to come look because he was laughing so hard he could barely speak. So I walk into the living room and this is what he showed me...

Mike was laughing so hard (notice his face in picture #2) he could barely hold M while I snapped a few pictures. Once we both regained our composure I said, "Well, I guess that answers my question!"

After we calmed ourselves we started talking about how this happened, was it one of the Dads that changed and dressed M and they didn't realize there was a hole for each leg, was she being a wiggle worm and they were doing the best they could or was it just chaotic and it was a simple mistake?

However it happened, we were thankful because if felt good to take a few minutes and laugh so hard we that couldn't breathe:)

Bath Time Fun

We are in love with McKinley's personality. She is constantly entertaining us and bath time is no exception!

A Day at the Zoo

Earlier this year my brother surprised us with a wonderful gift. He gave us a year membership to the Nashville Zoo! On Memorial Day Weekend we activated the membership and McKinley got to experience her very day at the zoo.

There are two things that McKinley absolutely LOVES:
#1- Mickey Mouse Clubhouse & The Hot Dog Dance
#2- Animals of all kind

This kid can spot and/or hear an animal a mile away. When we go on our evening family walks, she has to see every dog that we pass, even the ones in houses barking through the windows. She even notices the birds on the overhead wires. Since we knew of her love of animals, we had a feeling that a visit to any zoo would be a success.

As you will see, the day was full of squeals, giggles and moments of extreme excitement where the making of noise wasn't even possible.

The Nashville Zoo:
The first animals we came upon were 3 blue macaws. I could not believe how excited she became over 3 birds that were twenty feet away, but her reaction made that entire trip worth it!

McKinley loved this pig/warthog/thingy. By the look on her face you would have thought it was some cuddly kitten.

The Safari Animals: Elephants, Giraffes & Zebras

"I'm ready for my next adventure!"

She LOVED the petting zoo...her mother not so much, but that's what antibacterial wipes are for:)

Her absolute favorite exhibits were the meerkats and the aquarium. Unfortunately we didn't get any great pictures of her with those creatures.

We saw several other exhibits, but some were hard for McKinley to see. If the animals were sleeping or not moving (mostly all of the cats) then she couldn't find them. So next visit we will probably just save some time and skip those until she is a little bigger.

"It's been a long day...I need a nap!"

Play Date with Grammy

Here are a few pictures of McKinley that my mom snapped while we were on vacation in Florida. They were having a special play date while everyone else was at the beach.

Johnson Family Vacation 2012- Part I

This past May was the annual Johnson Family Vacation. We mixed things up a bit this year. First, we wanted to try a new location and chose Seaside, FL and we were NOT disappointed. As a matter of fact, I think this is my new favorite place to vacation! Second, this was McKinley's first Johnson Family Vacation. She did great! Mike and I had a little adjusting to do:) We spent less time at the beach (due to naps & baby schedules), but Grammy was a huge help in that area.

I love getting to reconnect with the whole family. This is such a special time and I am blessed to have these wonderful people in my life!

Home Sweet Home:
We loved our little beach home!

At the Beach:

This was McKinley first trip to the beach. She had lots of fun. Her favorite thing to do was drink/lick the salt water. I can't wait to take her back next summer when hopefully she will be over the "putting things in the mouth stage" and we won't have to worry about fists full of sand.

"The beach was great fun, but I love the pool too!"

This year we decided to rent a sea kayak for the week.

McKinley even had a turn:)

Family Fun:
Our very first full day of vacation also happened to be Mother's Day. Here are a few pictures we took before heading to lunch.
