Juicing

This past Saturday Mike bought me an early birthday present...The Jack Lelanne Power Juicer! I have wanted one for a couple years and since I'm doing the whole vegetarian thing we decided now would be a perfect time to purchase it.
We bought the juicer at Bed, Bath & Beyond (so I could use my 20% coupon) and then headed to East Nashville (5 points area) to a store called the Turnip Truck. It is like Whole Foods, just the mom & pop version. The thing I liked about this store is that they only sell organic produce from local farmers. We bought some juicing essentials (carrots, apples, celery) and then headed home. We assembled the juicer, but decided to wait until morning to try it out.

So before church Mike & I made our first glasses of juice:

Here are the ingredients we used in our first glass of juice.

Before juicing you have to wash all your produce. I use a veggie/fruit was from Trader Joe's that I really like.

Mike juicing away.

Here is the final product. It actually tastes really great. We have now juiced for 5 mornings and we love it. The only downside to juicing is that you have to wash the entire juicer after you are finished. The whole process takes about 10 minutes...not bad. Plan ahead and wash produce when bring it home.
Oh, and thanks honey for a great (early) birthday present!

We Love Our Titans!

Yesterday was a sad day in the Organ household. Our beloved Titans lost to the Baltimore Ravens and therefore will not be moving on in the playoffs:( Despite the loss, the game was a lot of fun. It was the ultimate football weather and I have to say I think I fared quite well. It was rainy, windy and very cold. We all went prepared, dressed in multiple layers and toting ponchos. The ponchos were a life saver. Once the rain quit and the temperature kept falling, I refused to take mine off since it was keeping in what little body heat I had left. Although the weather was cruddy, the stadium was packed and you could feel every one's excitement!

Even though our toes were frozen and our team lost, it was a blast getting to go with Phil & Amy. I guess there's always next year. Go Titans!

Tag I'm It

Well thanks to Karina I have officially been tagged (sorry I'm a little late with this post). When I saw that she had tagged me I was a little scared. The rules were random and I didn't know what the photo would be.

Here are the rules:
1. Choose the 4th picture folder on your computer
2. Choose the 4th picture in that folder
3. Explain the picture
4. Choose 4 people to do the same

So here is that photo:

Thankfully it is a picture that I took at Radnor Lake. This a place that Mike and I love to go, especially since we can bring Martini. There is a main road that overlooks the lake that you can bike, run, walk dogs, but there are also a numerous trails that you can hike. The wildlife is amazing and the scenery is breathtaking. I actually have to say thanks to Karina and her family for introducing us to Radnor Lake.

Now it's my turn to tag 4 others. Since most people I know have already been tagged, I can only think of 2 families to tag for this post. So Phil & Amy Organ and The Bruns Family consider yourself officially tagged.

Who's 38?

For those of you who don't know, Mike's birthday is on December 28th. I always try to do something special for him on his birthday since it is so close to Christmas. I want him to feel like he had a special day. Since we would be traveling on his actual birthday, I planned to celebrate a day early at the Organ Family Christmas.

After the Christmas gifts were open and dinner was eaten, Easton and I surprised Mike with his Superman cake and birthday gifts. If you look closely at the picture above that is actually Mike. He is standing behind one of those life size wooden cut outs that we found coming home from St. Louis one time. We had to make a quick pit stop and the next exit was Metropolis, IL. It just so happens that the gas station we stopped at had this huge Superman in its parking lot. We couldn't miss a photo op:)
Easton trying to help Mike blow out the "never ending flame" candles. I had heard of the candles before but had never seen how they actually work. Let me just say... fire hazard. The concept is really fun but then when it is actually time to really put them out panic started to set in.

The whole clan (minus Amy who is taking the picture-thanks). Not only is this as close to a group shot that we got all holiday season, but this picture was intended to show that while everyone was enjoying Superman cake and ice cream, Phil decided he wanted seconds of roast and gravy. Oh, one last thing. When it was time to serve the cake our cute little nephew didn't skip a beat before he announced he wanted to eat Mike's head and we let him.

Happy Birthday Mike- I Love You!

Funny Holiday Photo Shoot

This is what happens when you have a goofy family and a wireless camera remote...Enjoy!

Organ Family Christmas

The Organ Family Christmas (minus David & Belinda- we missed you guys) took place the Saturday night after Christmas. Mike and I always love getting to spend quality time with family. This year we did our traditional Christmas get together. We opened presents, one at a time, everyone must see what the others received. Then we had a very nice dinner. I really enjoyed watching Easton open his presents this year. He was so excited about everything he got and he was so patient while the others took their turn opening their presents.

I don't know why we never get a family shot when the Organ clan is together. I am going to have to make a mental note to take time to do that next year. We are so thankful for everything we received that night and we are very blessed to have such great families.

Johnson Family Christmas

Mike and I had another wonderful Christmas. We really enjoyed getting to spend time with both families. We spent Christmas Eve and Day with my family and celebrated Christmas with the Organ Family later in the week when Phil, Amy, & Easton could make it.

The party started on Christmas Eve with some Guitar Hero and game playing. I thought it would be fun to open up a family gift on Christmas Eve and evidently so did my brother. As my sister was opening the gifts we quickly realized they were the same game...go figure:)

The stockings were hung on the "Banister" with care...

This was one of the presents my sister gave my brother. She went to his apartment one day to visit and went to use the bathroom and there wasn't any toilet paper. You've gotta love Bachelor Living!

Mom & Dad

A surprise gift from Mike!

Thanks BJ a Bible and a beer koozie!

Family Portrait

This picture was taken because everyone got Christmas socks in their stockings, so my sister thought we needed to show them off.

Mom & Dad Organ came over for lupper (being that we ate at 3:00 not sure if that would be considered lunch or supper) and games.

Sara and Shane got in on the family photo action (if you look closely Mom is holding Sara's Christmas present from Shane, Gracie- a miniature Dachshund)

Thanks everyone for such a great time!
