Shower of Love for Baby #2

A couple weeks ago, a sweet group of friends and family got together and threw Baby #2 and me a little shower. It was so nice to be able to take a couple of hours and focus on this pregnancy, have a little mommy talk, and open a few new things. The decorations were adorable and the food was great. It was the perfect way to celebrate the upcoming arrival of this little one!

The Sweet Hostesses!
I am so blessed to have these women in my life. They are a constant source of support, encouragement, understanding and even a little comic relief. I treasure each one of their friendships!

The Guests
I am so thankful for the wonderful family that was able to make it to help celebrate the upcoming arrival of this little bundle of joy.

This day was so special and means more to me than anyone will ever know! Thank you to everyone who made this day so wonderful!

Life Group Kiddos

This picture was taken at life group a few weeks back. There are a few kids missing from the picture, but when I look at this photo I can't help but feel blessed! Blessed to see that McKinley is surrounded by Godly children & friends. I am also blessed by what you can't see in the picture, the big group of parents standing behind the camera. Over the years these special people have become more than friends, they are family.

Warrior Dash 2012

Back in September, Mike and I competed in our very first Warrior Dash. It was a great day, somewhat challenging and very muddy:( We competed with an amazing group of friends who made the race so much fun!

Who knows, this may become a yearly tradition:)

The Big Baby Reveals

The first and biggest baby reveal of all was on August 29th, 2010. When I woke up on that Sunday morning I lay in bed for awhile trying to decide if I should take a pregnancy test or not. I knew I hadn't been feeling like myself for about a week and my period was 4 days late, but I didn't want to jump the gun and take a test only to have it come back negative. After thinking about should I or shouldn't I, I realized 4 days late is really late for me. So I figured I would take the test and if it came back negative I would throw it away and pretend like it never happened.

Once Mike was out of the bathroom and taking care of the dog, I snuck into the bathroom to take the test. I was too nervous to look at it, so I went about my morning bathroom routine and actually after a few minutes forgot I had even taken the test. But as soon as I remembered I looked down and saw two blue lines!

After I quickly calmed myself down I emerged from the bathroom to share the shocking, but great news with Mike...

Once the test had confirmed the pregnancy, Mike & I put together a plan and figured out when would be the perfect time to make our public reveals.

The next big baby reveal was to my family on September 8th, 2010 . It had been on the calendar for months that I would be travelling to Searcy this particular weekend to help my mom get ready for her first big trade show for Red Suit Studios. Mike and I originally wanted to wait until Thanksgiving to tell all the immediate family, but once we saw how sick I was during my first trimester we knew there was no way I could stay with my parents for 10 days and them not realize something wasn't right. So we decided it would be best for Mike & Martini to join me for the weekend and we would tell the Johnson clan then. Unfortunately, my sister was living in Florence, Italy for the semester so she wasn't there for the reveal, but we had something special planned for her later.

Instead of just telling our families the big news, I thought it would be neat to have them open a gift. I found this cute onesie online that could be personalized to read "An Organ and Johnson Production", so I spent way too much money, ordered it, and wrapped it and that is what both sets of parents opened to reveal the big news.

The next reveal was to our life group. We have been in this life group for almost 8 years and these families hold a special place in our heart. We knew the month of November was going to be crazy for us since we were traveling to Europe and then had the Thanksgiving Holiday in Arkansas. So we decided the reveal should happen at our "Annual Life Group Chili and Pumpkin Carving Party" on October 30th.

We wanted to share our news in a unique way, so I thought it would be a great idea to carve our announcement on a pumpkin. That evening, once all the pumpkins were carved and lit, they were placed together so everyone could take pictures. While everyone was looking at their great carving abilities, Mike went and lit our special pumpkin and added it to the group officially announcing our pregnancy!

Unfortunately, the night of the party we were without a few of the members due to sickness, but we had a great time revealing to everyone that was there.

We revealed the news to Mike's parents on November 14th. For this reveal we travelled all the way to London, England! We had arrived to London very late on the 13th and decided it best that everyone get a good night sleep before we shared our news. So the next day when Mike's parents got back from church we handed them a little wrapped gift. I think they were more that just a little surprised to open up a little onesie:)

(while in London we found the cute onesie in the picture)

On Thanksgiving day we made our final reveals. Not only did we call both of Mike's brothers and shared our exciting news with their families, we also Skyped with my sister in Florence, Italy. We knew ahead of time we were probably going to be able to talk to her that day via Skype, so along with her birthday present my mom sent an envelope that read "Do Not Open Until We Skype On Thanksgiving!". I don't think she peeked because she was totally surprised when she opened the envelope and saw this:

An extra treat was that my Aunt Sara and her boyfriend came for Thanksgiving dinner and were there while we Skyped with BJ so they got to hear the news too.

One special reveal that I made over the phone a few weeks ago was to my best friend and cousin Maya. Since she lives in St. Louis it just wasn't possible to tell her in person. Much to my surprise when I told her our great news, she had great news of her own...she was expecting too!!! Even more exciting is that she is due on May 14th, just nine days after me. I am so thankful that I will get to experience this journey with such a special person!

A big thanks to everyone for making this such a joyous time. It was so much fun letting everybody in on our little secret!

Searcy High School Class of...

This past weekend Mike & I traveled back to Searcy to enjoy our high school reunions. It just so happened that Mike's 20 year reunion was the same weekend as my 10 year reunion. So for those of you who are just now figuring it out, yes...Mike & I are 10 years apart. Anyway, this "double booking" actually worked out quite nice. Even though we both had events scheduled for the same time but different places on both Friday night & Saturday night, we just split our time.

Our two reunions were completely different, but they both were a lot of fun. I knew a few weeks before the reunion that not very many people had RSVP'd for my reunion. So I was prepared for it to be a small turn out. Mike's class we weren't sure how many to expect, and in the end I was blown away by how many people showed up for his.

Friday night we tailgated with Mike's class before the Homecoming football game. During the game we sat with a dozen or so of my classmates. Our agenda for Saturday, was a morning tour of the high school and then Saturday night were the more formal parties. Mike's reunion on Saturday night was at the Country Club and mine was at the Tea Room. Even though we had to bounce from reunion to reunion we both had a great time getting to catch up with everyone. And a big thanks goes out to all of those who helped plan both reunions!

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Go Tennessee Titans! The last couple of years I have really come to love & appreciate the game of football. I think my love for the sport has grown primarily because we have co-owned a two-seat PSL with Mike's brother, Phil. Since we share the PSL, that means we have to split & share the tickets for each of the games . Luckily this year the man who owns the PSL next to us decided to sell his seats. Giving us a total of 4 seats! Now Phil owns 2 seats & we own 2 seats. I am so excited that Mike & I will have tickets for every home game!

Thursday night the Tennessee Titans played the Green Bay Packers in the last pre-season game of the season. This was the first game Mike & I have been able to make it to this year. Although I found this game a little boring (it's a pre-season game, low attendance=low energy) we still had a great time. Phil & Amy were out of town, so our friends Kyle & Janna took their seats. Here are a couple pictures Mike snapped at the game.

This is a picture of a guy who was sitting a few rows in front of us. Once we spotted him Kyle told us that he knows this guy and this is how he always wears his hair. Karina, I'm thinking this should be Rad's next hairdo!

Oh Yes It's Ladies Night!

Sunday night all the Life Group girls got to go out for a nice dinner while the men watched football and kept the kiddos. We all look forward to these nights so we can get dressed up, enjoy a nice meal and have uninterrupted girl talk.

Each time we have a girls night we usually try to eat at a locally-owned, non-chain, fun-trendy restaurant. Sunday we ate at PM Restaurant. The menu at PM is Asian inspired and they also have a full sushi bar. The food was amazing and so were the drinks. If you go you have to get the Passion Fruit Gingerale (non-alcoholic), especially if you are not a big drinker. I will definitely be taking Mike to PM sometime soon! Thanks guys for letting the ladies have a great night out.

Viva La Vida

I have this short list of "Must See Concerts". Last night I got to check one off my list. Mike and I along with some friends went to the Coldplay concert. The show was amazing! If you love their music and you get a chance to catch them while they are on their US tour I would definitely do it. You won't be disappointed! You even get a free CD just for attending the concert.

Here are a couple pictures from dinner at Dan McGuinness before the concert:
